Default Need Advice om CTX 3030

Hello Everyone. I strictly coin hunt old hard hit parks. I am wanting to pick up a 3030 but feel intimidated with all the lingo. Combined mode. ferrous coin etc. Can I just use a simple coin program that will just hit pennies and above without having to change programs or settings? I tried a Nox 800 and liked how easy it was to disc out pennies and below. Also people are saying the Nox will unmask better then the 3030 which is important when hitting pounded parks. I have the money for the 3030 and people seem to be saying the 3030 s a better silver coin machine.

Have been using the FBS for a couple years the CTX only this year and never the Box, so take my observations with a grain of salt, I don't claim to be a pro.

Minelab own claims that the Nox is designed for medium conductors, not higher conductors like silver, and is kind of a guideline that should be considered. The speed of the Nox will most definitely aid in separation better on mid conductors than FBS,...BUT, FBS, and especially the CTX, seems to let the high conductor signal come through the iron. Almost like the iron is ignored to let the silver signal come through. While I'm not convinced it's due to separation more like the distinction of targets so to speak.

It's amazing when I return to an iron infested sight and start pulling nails out of a hole and then find a coin in the same hole. It also falses less on iron than any other machine I have had.

Don't let the lingo intimidate you.
Once you get the detector, you'll find the lingo is not so complicated.

Navigating the CTX is not hard.
Once you build your program, you can use most of the time should you choose.
And you can then if you decide to change recovery to fast or leave off.
Same with deep mode on or off.

Your pattern, once you get this down, all downhill from there.
Next thing to do is learn what an iron false is (how the detector behaves tonally and with its display.

There is more than enough you tube support to get you pointed in the right direction with CTX.

Learning how the different things ID will take a little time.

Rather a simple detector to run actually for finding coins.
Compared to some other detectors, CTX is like shooting fish out of a barrel.

Your biggest concern should be, will you find the weight comfortable and or tolerable. Not the lightest detector out there. For sure.

Good luck.

Do a quick search for the “trashy park” pattern by Bill_S. Load it up, set the separation to high trash, do a noise cancel and go detect. Very easy.

It’s a great coin shooting pattern and will knock out a large percentage of trash targets. Perfect for new users.

CTX isn’t difficult to learn or use IMHO. As stated above: once you get the hang of it, hitting those deeper silvers is like shooting fish in a barrel. It can definitely pick out good targets from iron too. The key is a slow sweep speed when hunting in thick iron.

With its unmistakable tones, extremely accurate target ID and Target Trace, the 3030 is one hell of a coin hunting machine.
