I was using a GoPro Hero 4. Recently upgraded to a Hero 5. I was going sell the Hero 4 but instead I got a macro lens for closeup video.
Cell phones are a good solution but best if they're waterproof. And do try and limit wind noise. I suggest buying an extra case and epoxying on a strip of faux fur to the case over the mic to reduce wind noise.

I just have a cheap GoPro knock-off (Campark 4k I think?) with a head mount for live digs. Sometimes I just use my iPhone when I'm feeling lazy.
