Default The Cost of Our Toys, Part 2

A couple of shows ago we talked about the cost of other sports and hobbies that make metal detecting look like a bargain.

The response to that show was phenomenal. In my newest podcast, I share with you what people wrote me about the cost of their other pastimes.

You'll never complain about the cost of a metal detector again.

Listen at http://thetreasurecorner.com.

Yep very cheap hobby if you want it be, for me,

F2 $219
gloves $10
garden trowel $10
knee pads $10
plastic organizer for coin finds $5
tool pouch $15
headphones $22

total $291

PS I don't use a pinpointer and get by great without one.

gas-local parks only, cheap
batteries-no name alkaline bulk pack, cheap

Take care,
CDNsilver

I understand this completely, and have tried to rationalize it all for many years. My theory is....if it makes you happy, gives you enjoyment, and you can afford it, go for it.... Life is too short.

On the flip side, I will be 71 next week, and at this point in my life I just want a "lightweight, easy to swing, turn on and go" machine.....

Lastly, if you aren't hunting in the right spot, or if you don't pass your coil over that particular item, it doesn't matter what the hell you are using....

People say "WOW, You must be rich!" "Why would you pay so much for that?"
etc. But then I tell them how much I make off my finds and they shut up.
MDing is a hobby that pays for itself.

Cost is pretty relative. It's something that gives you tons of enjoyment for many years.... it's what makes me relax and forget about everything else. It's worth it.
