I was at a local dam/resivor today. It was built in 1973 somewhere in SW Pennsylvania. I went down to investigate the situation as I've heard that there was a group of detectorists in this area around the same time last year. This year was even more dry than the last. Is this a needle in a hay stack? I'm going to try to get permission to search a Very old ball "field of dreams". If I get that permission? I'm ditching the dam and trying to hit a grandslam there. What are yinz thoughts on the resivor

I would imagine that's a lot of sediment, but I mean if you have nothing else to do?

Unless you KNOW there was a lot of human activity at the dried up portion of the reservoir (swimming/fishing etc.,) it’s a shot in the dark. Whereas, a baseball Field of dreams just begs your attention. It won’t hurt to give the reservoir a shot sometime though, just to stop yourself from wondering what could have been a good spot. Good luck, whatever you decide.

Yep, gotta at least look at it for a pre-determined amount of time. For instance...give it two hours. If you find NOTHING then it’s done. If you find fishing weights, cans, sunglasses....other “beachy” stuff....at least you know people were present. But I’m sorry to say that I would take an old ball field ANY time over an unproven site like the reservoir, if I was only able to pick one.

Careful Charles, don't get stuck in the mud. Curious about the permission, is it not public land ? Good luck. Mark
