Well it was time to select this years land machine and get that bend and snap exersize going again.

So I went down to Chicago Ron's hang out -Windy City Metal Detectors- and was trying on one of Ron's custom logo ball caps and reachin for a Deus when I got my first feel of the feather light XP. I was a little disapointed to say the least and so glad I'd driven in to the brick and mortar before ordering one online. I felt like Goldilocks trying out each machine and Deus feels like a Tesoro Compadre, just too small and flimsy without color or bling. The stock coil is tiny and the larger one is heafty in price plus adds to the (brick on a stick) effect like putting a double D on a ACE 250. The coil was blinking and you couldn't turn it off :?: I would put some tape on that before you go through carry on.

Because it was the first time I had ever held a Minelab I was shocked by Etrac's brawn, it was a little cumbersome  even bulky and again lacked quality display like the XP. Between the two I would have taken the Minelab home for the summer but then...

I saw my old friend hanging in the line up

I had sold off V3i last year in the fall for a very good resale price and was determined to run a new land machine this year and broaden my experience but V3i beconed me with her symistry, balance and grace. Designed for comfort and elegance she just glowed like a pregnate woman. That brilliant full color graph, three frequencies working loud and proud to ID your target and really quality construction. The straight shaft like grip and the big o'l beautiful stock D2 coil that dosen't even need a cover. Stunning in every way Whites V3i just leaped back in my arms and money fell out of my pocket. Did I pay more for the hands on?... yes, but I had to know what the physical reality was between these high-end machines. I don't like buyers remorse when UPS shows up and the upcharge wasn't that critical for the knowing.

I took V3i back and could have assembled her with my eyes closed. Switched her on and entered my password protected personal information while she purred like a kitten  V3i just fells right, comfortable in her balance and weight, challenging to the mind and promising to deliver hours of stimulating visual and audio sensation she far out shines the others in a line up and remains one hell of a machine for 2012. I guess I won't be testing anything new or different this year.

Sorry boys... it's another Whites for me. Maybe next year there will be something as exciting as the heads up on a V3i... we will see

my other lady had two words for me... "you're stupid"

hmmm...I may have to check you WCMD one of these days....

maybe next time I drive into work (I live about 60 miles west of the city...but work downtown)

Let me get this straight. You abandoned her with dreams of a newer more slender model and when those dream didn't work out you went back? Your lucky she even talks to you much less took you back. You better take care of her, keep her batteries charged and then maybe there will be a ring in the future for both of you. Enjoy your lives together and HH!

well have been looking at the V3i for a bit now, my old xlt has served me well. after reading your post i think its time to go for it. thanks for your interesting post. HH blev

I feel like I just walked out of a Tv commercial,,,:?::?:

Sorry didn't mean to sound like a commercial, I really tried to choose differently this year. I will be looking for an Excal in the fall after the Chicago beaches are replenished and the crouds freeze out. I was looking Excal over and  that is one heavy metal detector. I assume you guys get the Anderson rods or hip mount the Excal because that is a REAL beasty. A Minelab Excal II and a serious long scoop would weigh in around 12 pounds together. Lug that up and down the sand beaches a few hours and I bet you get your workout :wow:

But congrats on the new machine and returning to your old love. Now that sounds like a cheesy movie.

Well actually the title made me think of the Romper Room song " Bend and Stretch" at the end of the show.
Bend and snap, reach for the ground, there goes wasted cash all around.
