The temperatures today were moderate, along with my workload. Took the opportunity to detect a park that isn't too old, but I've been meaning to get around to detecting it. Glad I gave it a shot this afternoon. There's a plaque that says it was established as a park in 1940. Not sure what was there before.

Pretty quickly came across a few wheat pennies and a Rosie. There was also quite a lot of clad and pull tabs from the 70s. I didn't have much time, so I was selective with the signals I dug. I need to go back and clean out the shallow clad when I have time.

Got over a 42 Merc and a short while later, hit a deep, solid, tight 34 signal. Dug down to a Franklin half.

Pretty nice afternoon. Thanks for looking.

What a great day digging!👍👍 Go out and dig a few more for me our ground is froze up and it will be a while.

I like the in-situ reveal shots. Like opening a Christmas present :cool3:

hefty hand full of shiny, the rest alone is a great day, go back and stop cherry picking

Great hunt, SW! And great spot....is all that stuff from the same hunt on limited time?? You definitely have to make some time to go back and hunt some more!! Is that a tax or transit token I see next to the silver? And that holed Canadian cent is pretty interesting - makes you wonder what it’s story was that it got turned into jewelry. Again, nice job, and thanks for sharing!

Thanks AT!

I did dig all that in a couple hours. I need to spend a whole day there soon.

That is a Tax Token. They sound just like a deep silver dime. Fool me everytime.

I do wonder what significance a 1971 Canadian penny had to someone.

I love Mercury Head Dimes. When my brother and I were little kids, we would explore the storm tunnels around our house. One day we went really far down one. We had our hunting head lamps on and learned that the good stuff was in the pipe joints. We started digging out Mercury dimes. After about 4 hours we had around 125 all together. We later learned that about two years earlier, a coin store in our neighborhood had been robbed and the only thing not recovered was a bag of dimes. Apparently, the bag was thrown down a rain drain and rotted in the tunnel. Still have them to this day.

Dang, way to go!! Never! Never! have I found a Franklin. I have found two Walkers so far this year but all my years of hunting, never a Ben. Congrats.
