Need a little help with this one. It's got me stumped.

Found this in the same yard where I 've found early 1800 coins and spanish silver dating back as far as 1724. It looks like a man doing something on each side, but I can't make out what. Contemplating cleaning it some more, but want to identify first.

First guess would have been an ink well except for the lack of a bottom. Also, it's the same general shape as a candle snuffer. I like the WWII era belt buckle.

Looks like a WWII Buckle, the thing behind it might be a dog tag or a token...? Can we see more pics, like the button at the front?
