Brass piece

Was wondering what this thing might be. Found it near some railroad tracks not sure if that's a help. Anyway it has an adjustment screw on the bottom which is a hex bit or Allen key.

Thank you all. Hey it's not a big deal but it's brass or bronze so it'll add up when I take a bucketful in for scrap. The way my detecting has been going lately it was a decent find. :grin:
