I can't find a thread like this so i figured enough of us have the same machine that we could all pitch in and get the tips out there....
Here's something i've finally learned about the excal:
I've set the excal in a chair and swing different K gold rings in front of the coil to hear the differences, not all gold gives off that unmistakable low tone, and the further it is from the coil the less difference between gold of different K.... Don't just get used to those SCREAMING AT YOU signals....Get used to the sound of gold as far from the coil as it will register....
Anyone else?

Dig anything that makes a noise at all. It will surprise you at what could be masked or how tiny the object could be. When you hit a nulled out spot move the coil snails pace slow. If there is something good there, conductive the machine will give you a little chirp. Dig all the chirps and pops even if a low growl after the initial signal. You will be pleasantly surprised. The machine will find stuff other machines cannot without digging iron.
