I’m mainly concerned about the bicentennial proof, it looks very nice,.. I googled it and says 40% silver? Is that correct

There are two versions of the Bicentennial S proof, plain and 40% silver. Have you tried the tissue test?

If in doubt, you can lay the proof under a single-ply tissue, next to a regular clad half. If it’s silver, it will stand out as ‘white’ next to the dark clad half.

On the Bicentennial, do you see any copper color on the edge? If you do, it is clad. On a silver Bicent. you may see some banding in the plane of the coin, but it will be various shades of white metal, no copper sheen at all.

Never heard of the tissue test, so thank you amcrulz for that info! :D:D

As for the 74 Proof, if clad, it only has value as a filler for a beginning coin collector since it is not in its original mint wrap.

Thanks for the replies, it’s got no color on the band thus silver,..
I guess I need a better photo to get a better price on its value. It’s one of the best proofs I’ve found in circulation
