Never thought I’d dig one of these. About six inches deep and under a big ole root. This is by far the most valuable item I’ve ever found. Thinking about sending it off for grading, but still doing some research on that. Have to figure out a way to get the gunk off without actually cleaning it.

My plan was for some soaking and hot water rinsing. Does anyone have any experience with PCGS “restoration” service?

Wow, awesome find man. I found an 1898 barber quarter this week, thought that was cool but that's got nothing on this one!

Thanks everyone! I’ll probably start the process with PCGS on Tuesday. The pics don’t really do it justice. This coin is mint! This has definitely been a learning experience as far as what agreements I make with property owners before digging. Fortunately the owners are very nice and we pretty much agree on everything with the coin. In the future I will probably do some sort of contract. Thanks again and HH.
