32 mm copper medallion**updated 1876!

I dug this today about 6" deep under two tree roots.
I believe it to be an 1876 (100th anniversary) medallion?
It definitely has George Washington facing right on one side.
So far, the only word I can make out is Independence, soaking in olive oil.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Great find, Matt! That is the first medallion of its kind that I've seen. Very nice!
