Likely they are hoping the smell will make people hungry enough to run there and buy more often

I’ll pass on Burger King. Too much mold. Guess we call this flame broiled mold.

It seems that promo was only to show they didn't add all those chemical preservatives but kept it more natural, and showed the mold after it was deliberately left to sit out for about a month, (article said "becoming covered in mold over 34 days.") not to show what their fresh burgers are like

Reminds me my wife once read a study where it seems flies are not attracted to margarine like they are attracted to butter, seems the flies don't even think margarine is a real enough food to be attracted to it
