Found what i originally thought to be a token today in my yard, and it turned out to be a 1 franc belgique coin. I could make out enough details to match it up to pictures on the net. It says the coin is zinc and all I have done to it is a little soap and water. What would be your ideas on getting clean enough to at least see the date? Thanks for any help.

This is a WW2-era Belgian 1 franc coin that was made from zinc. Please dont clean that zinc coin!! The zinc coin will be ruined if you cleans with water and soap. What year is your Begian 1 Franc zinc coin? Yup its really hard to see its date on darkened wartime coin. Thanks!
The information I found says the coin was made from 1942 to 1947 it has the sheild with a lion inside it. I can see a 4 but the 19 and the last digit are not readable. Thanks for the input, I will not hit it with anything for cleaning. I got at least enough to identify it.
