I got my first permission out of state in Virgina as I was traveling for work last week. Swinging along I got a strong 76 on the ACE 400 and dug this up. At first I thought it was a coin but after cleaning it up I'm not sure what it is. It has SRY stamped on one side and AD 62 on the other.

Thoughts?

Ice Scratcher is correct... It's a lead bag seal.
Used on bag of grain and flour, etc..
Your pictures are great.

S.RY could be Southern Railway, so from a boxcar I suppose?

I'll be.... there is an old train depot right across the road from where I was hunting on the side of the yard..

That very well could be it, I'll research that and see what I can come up with.
