We got a new CFO at the hospital and would you believe it he is a detectorist. Well, more like a wannabe, but he has asked me for a recommended machine that is not in my line of experience. He owns two gold mines in Colorado and wants to know what detector would be best. He also would like to be able to use it for some coinshooting as well, but the main purpose is to search the creeks for concentrations and placer I believe.

What would you prospectors recommend?

Thanks

I've used Minelab's GP Extreme and GPZ 7000. The 7000 is quite expensive, but it'll pay itself off over time and for us it was definiely worth it. The 7000's coil is also waterproof, so he could use it in shallow water if he wanted to.

Not sure how they would perform for coinshooting, but you could also use them on beaches to find gold, silver or coins (I've seen people do it)
