Need help in IDing this piece of brass

This was found on old farm land near a livery and an old dirt road. The penny is there for sizing. It is quite heavy, and has almost a screwdriver-like tip but it is too wide for that.

Old piano tuning hammer handle. If you look where the handle goes into the head of the hammer it has a wedge shape like your piece.

re: brass piece

I think it is possible, but not sure it is correct. There are no threads on the piece, the "tool" end is kind of thick, and there is a small hole in the other end. But thank you for your input.
