Since i have to go back to work tomorrow , I decided to go ahead and get back out to some fun spots today instead of doing much needed chores. I was rewarded with a few goodies; some type of copper suspender button, a few coins, and a BEAUTIFUL 1837 Hard Times Token! First one I ever found ! :D... and the dreadful , slick beyond recognition, unknown silver

Looks like a half dime to me..

Might be able to figure it out with silver testing acid..

Awesome digs!!

Sweet token! Could you weigh the slick, looks similar in size to a half real to me..
If it's a half real it would weigh less than 1.69 grams, and if it was a half dime it would be under 1.24 grams. So, it is is over 1.24 it WAS a half real...

Thanks Jim! I'm sure it's silver, just wish I had a Make, model and year....

Lol, I have no doubt you knew it was silver!

There's a way to use the silver testing acid to etch the coin to reveal it's true identity... Like how they pull dates off worn buffs..

There was a thread on here, it was as slick as yours, after etching, it was clear as day, it was a seated and you could read the date clear too..

Unknown silver is still silver....great finds.

Weather is turning cold here...hope I get another couple of good weekends in

I do believe your slick Silver is a Half-Dime. It looks to be the right size and is pretty thin. Really love the Hard Times Token. Congrats on a super outing Jeremy. Trapper

Good post. Those worn-slick silver coins are always a heart-breaker. Your imagination runs wild as to what they could have been
