Dug in a vacant lot today, don't know if there used to be a house there - what I thought might be a decorative piece for a cast iron stove and my wife thinks is a finial for a wrought iron fence - she's probably right. Does not attract magnet, holes in the decorative part go all the wa through, the other end has kind of an upside-down cross with a rounded depression at one end that might have engaged with something. Other things in photo - a big brass ring, second i've found, brass, fits my thumb. Guessing it's a part for something as it isn't rounded at top and bottom and it's so huge. Other thing appears to be both parts of a snap from a backpack, military bag etc.
