what is this thing

Dug this recently .
Both ends are open and it has the slots as you can see .
Can anybody correctly id this thing ?

Looks like copper or brass, is it?
Dimensions might help. A stumper so far.

Its made of I believe brass but it might be copper

the two different colored areas supposedly mean this thing was inserted
somewhere up to its half length. Therefore,I will go also with the idea
of a petroleum lamp.....or even from a Zippo lighter like Stinger said :yes:

I have found only one double harmonica diving. One you can play on both sides. I was also wondering if it could be a piece of a reed. Do the slots get slightly smaller or are they all the same size?

Looking at your picture IMO says my guess was correct.. You can even see the same two slots where the toothed wheels would grab...
