Went out for a quick scan with the new Cortes. Just trying to get the swing of it before the weekend. I really think I am going to like it. Found this button. Could be a Hessian from 1812... Or could be a reproduction. Anyone know how to tell the difference? Either way, I learned something and it was unusual so I decided to post it.

Three legged "Teutonic" eagle/Es Devs Spes Nostra/Latin for " God Is Our Hope."

Just found one of those too

And your msg was the first Google hit.

Found mine in a Cambridge sidewalk that's being torn up. Only real thing I found of interest.

I found the same button about 6 months ago. The back of mine is bronze like the front though. Noone could I.D. it. Maybe we can kill two birds with one stone!

but i'm sure those steel back two piece buttons are pretty modern , early 1900's or newer. Dan

Lol. Bringing up a really old thread cause I found the same button this morning. Must have been a popular blazer button back in the day.
