Went for a couple of hours tonight and ended up with this in my scoop. I was very surprised when I looked in and saw it. I don't know if its real but I did a scratch test with my gold testing kit and its reading 22k. Is there any other way to check for realism? Thanks

Looks like an escudo. Escudos came in different denominations - 2,4,8. Can be worth serious $$$ depending on date, mint and denomination. Awesome find!!!!!! :cool:

LOL a find like that and your sorry its upside down? It could be inside out and backwards for all we care!! Did you weigh it yet? Still unbelievable!

If it is real, you do realize it came off a shipwreck. Hopefully more where it came from. Time for a backhoe or a mailbox if you were out deep!!
 
Wow! Does it have a seam showing around all or a part of the outer edge of the coin? If it does it may be a cast fake. If not it may be authentic.
