New Homestead

Went swinging around a homestead I have located thanks to a 1903 plat map of my county. Found a few relics so far. The ax head was a neat find. I think the sprocket is from a bicycle? The cast iron plate I have no idea what it may be. I found two of them measuring approximately 10" by 5".

Oooh - that double bitted axe head is a sweet find - take it to a machine shop and have them take a grinder to it and you could probably get it fitted back onto a new handle if you'd use it... I've found a ton of axeheads but never a double! Keep hitting that spot!

that is a schwinn "sweetheart" skiptooth sprocket. 1940's ish

Nice finds, keep hitting that area. With the bolt pattern in the iron plates, look like farm equipment.

I googled the sprocket and you are exactly correct. Thank you for letting me know. How did you know that by the way?

Yep, you're in Michigan alright. I couldn't keep those axe heads away from me last summer. Seemed like every old tree I would detect I would find one... nice find on the double bit. :viking:
