I was reading the news and came across an article saying that the the World's largest garbage dump is in the Pacific Ocean. Huh?
Apparently there is a patch of plastics out there floating around about the size of the United States! The plastic garbage has been gathering in a certain spot for years, and it doesn't go anywhere because the currents go around it.
This is the first I have heard of this, and wow, it's freaky. I knew plastic bags were polluting the landscapes, but who would think there is tons of plastic floating around in the ocean?
