While out sea glass hunting with the missus, I was swinging my ACE250 and Sniper coil around at very low tide and though we came up empty for glass, I did get one or two hits of high copper readings.. OOOH, could it be? Is it possible?! Oak Island treasure right here in my back yard?
Nah.. just an old 15" long armature full of copper coils.. When I dug it out, it had a hard pack shell of sand surrounding it, and looked like,. oh !!!!, a mortar round?! yikes, we're close to a century old military base! But after a few waves hit the object and cleared some of that sand off.. phew.. ok.. just an armature.. no wonder this thing pinged hard..
Only other object found is this lovely 2 inch piece of 'whatzit' that rang high as copper as well.. very nice patina on it.. we must have the cleanest beaches around here.. no trash, no coins, no rings.. no foil or pull tabs..
Gotta find me a park or play ground soon... =/
