Hello everyone, unfortunately I cannot claim this as my find, it was my friend Danny's...he's been to 2 coin shops already and both have told him they think its 1670...any info or help would be greatly appreciated, it is slightly smaller than a Spanish half reale...thanks!

Sorry I can't help with date. Unless it's my computer, you really need better pics. Try no flash and incident lighting from the side. Just lay a flashlight on the table next to the coin. Then move the light around to reveal the best detail. Always exciting to find Spanish. Great find.

Until I get together with my hunting buddy, which may not be til the big thaw, these are the best photo's he can come up with... I told him before I created the post, the pictures are very important.. Thanks for your input.

That sure looks like a cob to me! Do you have a digital scale? If it weights around 1.6 grams or slightly less you have a 1/2 reale, if it weighs 3.3 grams or slightly less you have a 1 reale, if it weighs 6.7 grams or slightly less you have a 2 reale, if it weighs 13.5 grams or slightly less you have a 4 reale.
I hope that helps, it is hard to judge the size based on your pictures...
SWEET find!

Thanks Z! Unfortunately I dont even have the coin in front of me... Heres another pic...thats a Spanish half reale directly underneath it... Hes brought it to a few coin shops but it seems they are unclear on exactly where or when this coin was created... I appreciate the info ! I will certainly pass it on!

I am confused by the 1773 date on the coin sleeve, cobs are earlier than that, mostly going away by the 1730's. Also, that cross style went away when they started minting milled coinage in the early 1730's, they became the typical bust on one side and the columns and banner on the back style reales. If it was a 1713 that would make sense though.

That's a picture of the cob sitting directly on top of a 1773 half reale...2 coins in that picture...for size reference...

Here's some better photo's, he brought it over to show me today, what a tiny little thing! It was nice to hold something that old for once  any further info would be appreciated!
