Some old silver

Found this at a demo site a couple months ago. The same one that produced the cannonball. I haven't found the exact hallmark yet in my Gorham research, but it appears to be an early one, before the Sterling standard in the 1860's.

I didn't know what it was until my Dad told me. I am curious how many others here know what it is.

That's an excellent find! It does appear to be from the mid to late 1800's. You probably already know about this site, but here's a link, since it helps in identifying the marks on silver items.

I believe it is an olive and pickle pick, used to retrieve them from jars. I have one, but it is a bit different from yours.

It looks like something to do with sewing, like a seam ripper.

They used to make silver thimbles, so I guess they could make a silver seam ripper too.
