I would somehow manage to learn to deal with those annoying tones if it would cut my chances down to zero of losing my machine to too much water.
I would probably start looking into hunting some creeks and maybe beaches IN the water if I owned that kind of detector, also.

Somewhere along the way get a Compadre, too.
EVERYBODY should own one of these for the many reasons I have stated in the past.
Aside from the AT Pro's waterproofness I can't say I'm impressed by it. (dodges rocks being thrown by hoards of loyal AT Pro owners) Maybe I am missing something but I have a higher clad count than any of my club friends with AT's. I hunted with four friends yesterday 2 who had ATs, plus a Minelab and MXT and I had the highest clad count and only one who found jewelry and this is with my lowly F-2 and 4" coil. No one in club owns Tesoros or I would ask to test one out.

Could be you have just become better at this than they are, or maybe dig more because they believe their screens too much, they are using the wrong type of coils or other factors.

All those other detectors on paper should go a little deeper, and definitely have more features, as well they should since they are all in another class and cost much more.
It might be just a prime example of better hunting techniques trumping more technology...but I don't know for sure.
All I know is I would hate to lose any detector because it happened to get a little wet, and until other manufacturers come out with waterproof land machines at lower price points the AT Pro is about it, unless you consider the Tesoro Tiger Shark which should work pretty good on land but might be a little heavy and awkward because it is really designed to be used in the water.

I love my Tesoro Cutlass II but how does it compare to the Compadre?

At my parks I head straight for the picnic pavilions, the basketball courts and the volleyball courts which are all the trashiest areas in a park.
The small coil if you are going to do that.

Wide open areas mostly...get the larger coil.
