A group of us are planning to go to Puerto Valliarta this spring (2011).

Any ideas about or whom to contact about metal detecting laws in Mexico??

PLEASE advise as we will change trip if not allowed.

If so... any idea who to contact about machines to lease/rent for a few days??

I live here and detect the beaches all the time with no problem! The most the police might ask is "find anything good?" Metal detecting is not common here at all, poorer people can't afford machines and the rich wouldn't be caught dead looking for change on the beach!:lol::lol:
As far as rentals, no idea, i've never seen a rental place in Mexico...
I've got to say though, Puerto Vallarta is a bit sketchy though with all the drug crap going on, cancun or playa del carmen are alot quieter....

Thank you!

Was told that all found belongs to the Govt!

Will need to find about local vendors who may lease machines for a day or 2?
Any ideas?? Larry

The gov here doesn't really care about anything you find...as long as it's not Mayan or Spanish goods in deep water. Beach detecting is fine, you'll find LOTS of Corona tops though....
