The St. Louis County Library, Cliff Cave branch, 5430 Telegraph Rd, 63129, will be hosting one of their continuing series of Metal Detecting Basics classes on August 22, from 1-4:30pm. Basics on technique, safety, hunt sites, permissions, equipment and more will be offered. Also, for repeat attendees, there will be an additional section on coils, frequencies, and ground falsing. As usual, there will be a surface hunt for Roman coins and medieval buttons. If you don't have a detector, one will be provided. The library has been offering these courses for several years. Call 994-3300 and ask for the Cliff Cave branch to make a reservation. The classes fill up very quickly, so be sure to register early.
