Hi, my property is on a spot of a Union camp site (Army of the Cumberland 1864). I found this the other day ? Could it be part of a wagon axle ? Any help appreciated.

I think I may know what this is

I am beginning to think this is hardware from a Union telegraph pole.. Looks similar to hardware on 50 year poles.. but this looks hand forged.

The threads look post 1900 to me (machine cut). Clear that it was meant to secure two pieces of wood or wood to metal together which could be from a telegraph or old electric pole?

What is this ?

Thanks, yes the threads do look like they might be machined.. but then 19th century screws are new to me. I am pretty good at identifying 19th century nails but not screws / bolts. The rest of it looks hammered to me ? I found this on youtube and found it pretty educational:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lF4Ay5mEjDY
