Hi Folks
Yesterday my hunt buddy CTTodd and I got together for the morning to check out a new piece of land that Todd got us permission for. My research had indicated that there was numerous sites along the interior of the property, but we decided to try what was close to my last choice first.
The reason it was my last choice was that it is visible from the road if you know what to look for, so I figured that a sharp eyed treasure hunter had hit it sometime in the past forty or so years. Yes, I know, never hunted out. True, but it is fun to be the first. ..

Almost as soon as we turned on and tuned in our Equinox''s for the site we started recovering buttons and relics. Many of the buttons that we recovered were large Dandy type, along with Tombac, and some smaller buttons. I also found a complete crotal bell, part of a shoe buckle, corroded copper and more. It is hard to say with certainty that we we were the first to swing a detector there, but like Todd said, If we weren't the first , then they where the worst detectorist ever.

I am curious now if once we penetrate into the interior of the land to explore the other cellar holes our finds will be just as exciting.

The pictures are of my take for the day. Todd did very well too!
HH

Great hunt, thanks for sharing. I always dream of being the first to find a cellar hole with the MD. Can’t wait to see your other finds that come out of that site

Wow, great finds.
Good to see you dug some nails so there are good from dating the house.
Hard to see in the pic but they may be 'cut' nails (head looks flat) so house built after about 1820-40. A close-up would be helpful.

However, then buttons and buckle parts indicate 1700's or early 1800's.
Did your research find date of houses?

An amazing site Gary. If Todd did as well then you found a little piece of heaven. Congrats on finding the history of lives in the past. Trapper

Sick. Just plain sick. Everything there just drips with oldness and coolness.
