Hey everyone hope you all had a chance to get out over the weekend. I met up with BottleCapKing yesterday and we did a little park hunting. I've been hung up on 98 wheats fty , so I was really trying to get to 100 but it wasn't to be today. This park has actually given up more injuns than wheats for me. I've only found one silver here with multiple hunts and it was a very deep barber dime last season. We spent a good couple hours there and as we were just about winding down, a man approached us and started talking about the hobby. Said he owns a very expensive minelab made for finding gold nuggets. It led to permission to hunt a couple properties right next to the park. We hunted a fairly old property next to his house and he also gave us permission to do the public easement out front of his house  nice guy though. So we go do the vacant property right next to his. We were pretty excited cause we knew this may have not been hit yet. This yard was TINY. Literally big enough to walk down around the house and back. First coin found was a wheat by BCK. I honestly didn't have high hopes with such a small yard, and the guy said he has hit it before as well but wouldn't you know it a copper joined the party. I knew it was American as I could see one cent on the back. So we keep hunting I put it in my pocket. He comes over and for some reason I showed him the large cent. For the next 20 minutes he sat there spitting on it and rubbing the patina right off of it  I had to keep hunting I just couldn't watch lol. He insisted it was a flowing hair. I agreed just so he would stop cleaning it lol ended up being a date less draped bust! There may have been a date on it, but I'm pretty sure it's now on the front of his tshirt. Other notables were a 1906 V nickel and some neat relics. Also added a pic of a small sterling ring found yesterday. Thanks for looking everyone and happy hunting!

I kept telling him it wasn't a flowing hair, but, he didn't want to listen. They claims to be a coin collector. Coin collectors don't do to coins what this guy did. Absolute knuckle head.

As a note, I don't think that is a draped bust. I think it is a capped liberty large cent. You can see the cap to the left of the head.

That V I think is the only good nickel we have pulled out of the park. I don't recall any of us pulling any Buffaloes. Not even a war nickel.

I would further a guess at the LC as a draped bust, that wreath with fraction would indicate draped, pole to cap, or possibly flowing hair. If you look at the pic, you see the profile facing right, and at the bottom where the date would be appears the number 0. That would date it between 1800 and 1809. just my uneducated guess.

Grats on the LC and V
Thanks bud!

I always thought that area we nailed all the injuns would produce a buff at least but a V is cool too. If he didn't rub the snot out of the copper I bet I would have got a date off it. I do still believe it's a draped but I'm still doing a little more looking. Might be a liberty cap but I think I see the bun to her hair.
Nice finds. Congratulations and Thanks for sharing.
Thanks alot!
