9v nimh 280mah or higher with a true 9v charge or higher.
Slow charger is best for the battery. ~20mah

I can confirm cheap BTY 300mah charge to 9.6v when charged. As well as there 280mah ones.

GTL 300mah charges to around 9v. They hold charge as well. My BTY's are still at 9.4v a month later and GTL 8.9v.

I have a set of 350mah as well but they are in the tracker 4 right now. They were similar charge to GTL.

A lot of 9v rechargeable are rated at 8.4v. For most detectors this is fine. Rechargeable run at max voltage until about 10 minutes from dying. Most detectors that use 9v will run up to 6v charge left in the battery. So more importantly get as high of mah as you can so they last longer.

Depending on machine draw some will work better than others but expect 1/3 the life of alkaline.

The are about $3-4 a battery on ebay. Charger is about $4. I got a mixture so I could test them all.
