Sorry to hear about the drop. I don't know how to fix it. I would send it back to bounty hunter because if you mess with it your warranty will be voided. Just some friendly advice!

With the age of that thing... I'd bet the warrant is YEARS past due

Sorry I can't be of any help. But you could call BH and see what they can do.

I'd open the box and look for anything that got knocked loose or is shorting against the case or another component. Try it without the coil connected first.

thanks i opened it up couldnt see anything that is grounded
we are saying something touching case that shouldnt,........right
a friend from the geek squad, suggested since it is old, late 80s
if i rememember right, that maybe one of the resistors, or other
parts may have broken at the welded joint. these are small parts
does anyone know of a way to see this clearly, as my eyes are not
what they use to be, 50 something will do that to the eyes
i had a whites f something back in the late 70s, and never got to
a point of understanding that machine, as well as an old garret
that i understood better, but the bh i could really hear and get
the tones, which kept me mding. sentimental value i guess
i have 3 other bh and an ace 150. for some reason i can hear and
understand the bh tones better. it still worked well till the drop
thanks again

sorry to hear...

Sorry to hear about the drop.. It's like my White's 2900D .. it doesn't want to beep at all, regardless of what you put under the coil. I'm planning on building a shadow box to display my White's 2900 and make it 'wall art'. I'm trying to find an old copy of the White's catalog I used to have back in those days. I think I might of thrown mine out.
