I just completed my headphone upgrade. I ordered Malcolm Potters Surffone's and the new end cap with the waterproof CTX connector. I am so pleased with the way it turned out. It took all of about 20 minutes to do. The longest part is letting the AquaSeal dry before applying the shrink wrap over the end cap. The headphones sound fantastic and they are available with a 3', 3.5' or 4' coiled cord. A big improvement over the lousy Excalibur headphones. You would think that after spending big money on an Excalibur it would come with a decent length headphone cord more then 19" long and better knobs other then those cheap plastic knobs that always break. While I love my Excalibur I am not in love with the way Minelab cheap's out with horrible plastic knobs that they charge a lot for to replace and a very short headphone cord.
Malcolm Potters upgrade is worth every penny. The upgrade also allows you to use any headphone that is available for the CTX 3030 like the GreyGhost etc.
Great job Malcolm!!!

minelab excalibur

i could not agree more with anthony. minelab has known for years about the control knobs breaking, and the ear phone complaints (about the short cord) and also taking way to long to repair the machines. for the money you pay you should not have to pay more to make the machine right. SHAME ON YOU MINELAB.

Amen! I've got the SurFFoneS on my CTX! They're the next best thing to a good set of Skullies and the price is right! You can't dive with them though.

And, if you don't want to pay $25 (with shipping) to replace those knobs, this company has several colors...
