Hi everyone. I recently received my great grandfather's pocket watch. I'm researching it now, but thought someone here may know something about them. I've found quite a few pocket watches, but nothing in any kind of shape to research.

The first thing I see is a marking that has a symbol and the word "basemetal" on it. Very small. Pic to follow. I'm hoping that you detectorists can id the symbol and tell me a something about this very sentimental gift.

You need to open the back, should have a number on the movement that will date it and give you a bit more info like how many were made
