Taking a flight soon and the lower rod won't fit in a standard checked bag so with some on-hand pvc, ideas from others and Rekhaoil dye my CTX is flight portable. Total cost - dye off ebay $6.
May buy an Anderson travel shaft at some point but for now this will work. Flex is insignificant.
Parts/Tools List: 3/4" Sched 40, coupler, 1/4 oz Black Rekhaoil dye, acetone, 2" wood plug, epoxy (plug), duct tape (shaft lock tolerance & coil washer), belt sander, sand paper, drill & bit.

considering how much a new shaft costs this seems like a really great idea

The only unknown for me is whether pvc and the coil cord are compatible materials.
To minimize any potential problems with that I am not storing the coil on this shaft.

I cut the long section down a little more so it would collapse flush inside the upper body.
Passed right through TSA in my carry-on!

Last post on the shaft unless there is a failure or questions.
14+ hrs on it to include banging around in the woods and my opinion is it'll last many more if needed.
Only one silver Rosie, 5 wheats, and $6+ of clad but I've got a couple hrs in the morning before I fly home.
