Melting your gold at home

Wondering if there are a few here who melt some of their gold finds at home and what the common flux used is. Seems borax is pretty common. That stuff finds a use in about everything.

Never done it, always wanted to though...I found some scraps of 10k wire this year after a festival where a jewelry making booth must have [email protected] fooled with lost wax casting just for giggles making fishing lures out of lead and whatnot, so gold should be about on the same lines...I hope somebody here has a method they share, it would be fun to melt and make something out of a few small rings...
