Two different things. You are talking about a frequency adjustment setting that allows you to deal with EMI.

I am talking about detectors that transmit multiple frequencies at the same time to deal with harsh ground conditions.

As Goodmore pointed out, you really need a multi-frequency machine to get great depth and stability in wet salty sand.
