Wife's comments about my metal detecting over the years.

Hey! my purple ones wore out now I have black ones.:(

...Your Wife should know by now you are definitely NOT gay! Hell, you got like what? Two kids! Besides, Anybody that can bust ice and Gold Hunt in Michigan January? With an AtPro? Definitely NOT gay! Sure, a Minelabber would certainly give suspicions...

Thankfully mine just lets me get on with it, her thinking is "well it could be golf and some of those 'sticks' cost a lot more than a minelab" 😀😀

and green fees. Around where I live, it is pretty darn expensive to chase a little white ball. At least in metal detecting I do every now and then bring home some silver and gold.

My wife has no problem with my hobby of metal detecting. In fact she on occasion when I was getting restless suggested that I might need to go detecting.

But every one we know feels sorry for her being married to that old man who likes to play like a kid and dig in the dirt and sand.

Great post maxxkatt! My favorite...

"How can you get excited over a dirty penny with an image of an Indian in a native head dress? Because there are no pennies to be found with a bust of the Digging Brit on them."

I stumbled on "Digging Britt" while looking for metal detecting videos on YouTube. Couldn't figure out why she had hundreds of thousands of views, and generally didn't find diddly squat. After a few minutes of watching, I started laughing as I realized that her views came from showing off "her ample upper level views!"

You guys make me appreciate my supportive husband so much! He bought my first detector and the upgraded models as gifts. He modifies shovels at my request, and built me an electrolysis system. He's working on a "she shed" for all my detecting gear. When I talk detecting non-stop, he just smiles through the glazed look on his face. He got me a Deus for Christmas (can't wait!!!) And is going to start hunting with my ATP (if you can't beat em...) in the new year.

It gets me outside and exercising, and leaves him free to work on the Willys Jeep he is restoring. Maybe y'all should have married dudes who support our gay hobby!

Is that why all those people look at me funny when I'm out detecting? My niece is a Lesbian.....should I introduce her to the hobby to show her what she's been missing?:?:

Not trying to top you, but my step niece is a Lesbian married to a woman who is now a man. Not sure why she just didn't marry a man, but that part confuses me. I think that is how it goes.

But he is a nice man and when we get together this new man and I talk man stuff. Where did he learn all this man stuff. He looks like a man due to the hormones he is on with closely shaved hair on his head and a nice trim beard. They now have a beautiful baby created by artificial insemination of donor sperm to my niece. When you see the three of them, you would never have a clue the husband used to be a woman.

:laughing: You might just be on to something here! Maybe there should be a Male Only marriage sub Forum on this site? Sorta like Like "Our Time" only for old Men with detectors!? Since everybody already thinks we are gay...Hey, just go with it!

:laughing: "Not Trying to top you".???..!! So I think I got this figured out for you... Who exactly in this relationship is gay? Your niece is obviously attracted to Men, and her Husband is obviously attracted to women....and since you detect, its gotta be YOU!

My wife says its a gay hobby but holds her hand out when I find gold.

Maybe she is just channeling her ancestors and thinks the hobby is carefree and merry.

I hate when word meanings change like that. A certain type of sandals will always be thongs to me, regardless of the strange looks I might get when I say I can't find them.

well there is more to our family. Three years ago I remarried to a woman 11 years younger than me. She has three sisters. So far so good. It took me a while to get used to the dynamics of a wife having three sisters and two adult daughters, both who are married and of course her mom (who I really like) She is not your typical mother-in-law and does not butt into our life. I think she recognizes a good son-in-law when she sees one and she loves my dog. What more can you ask for in a mother-in-law? The son-in-law, that is a different story for another time.

There is this phone thing. My wife is always on the phone to either her mother, 3 sisters or two daughters or sometimes her niece.

I hear a lot of those conversations but just her side and have to use my imagination to fill in the other side.

But here is the kicker. My stepson was asked to escort her one unmarried sister to go to a wedding last fall. I have figured out that unmarried women of a certain age will simply not go to a wedding without a date. So my stepson went as her date as a favor for my wife.

Well it turns out that they must have had a good time (they both really like to drink). For the next three months they were dating and hiding that fact from everyone. Now they are living together and plan to get married. He is 10 years younger than her. So now my stepson is of course my step son but also my future brother in law?

What does all this have to do with metal detecting? Not much but I do have to sneak in my hunts when ever I can.
