Tuesday: I got permission to leave work early so that I could get some of the 2pm low tide on South Beach. I was hoping to reap some of the erosion that had been caused by the onshore heavy winds of the last 2 weeks. The winds had changed to offshore the last 2 days and calmed things down a bit. I worked the SS for close to 4 hours and found very little erosion. It was probably some of the most sanded in conditions I’ve experienced there. In the last 2+ hours lower level winds started coming onshore and made things rough with the incoming tide. Best thing about the hunt was getting out and seeing some of the beautiful sights.
Friday: Low tide was late in the afternoon, just after 5. I went back to the beach where I found the nice 18K last Sunday and re-worked that area with a little gridding action with Merlin. The Italian silver chain and the silver goat pendant/coke spoon came from that area. (Funny tidbit – I’m a Capricorn!) No yellow this time out but it was fun hunt, especially the Santeria penny spill area that over 30 of those came from. (I would later find another one that had about 10). This morning I went through the items and found markings on the chain and the earring. I was trying to clean off the coke spoon pendant and broke off the horns when I was hand rubbing. Oh well, I guess no silver spoon for my nose.
