I hunt mostly fields where houses once stood. It is easy to hunt and easy to get permission.
I have been doing some research on a couple more home sites. 1 house is on my 1865 map but not on my 1875 map. It sits right on the road and i was out there this week so i just stopped and took a look. Glass, brick and pottery all over the place. The guy that owns it is on vacation so i have to wait til friday til he gets back to get permission. I know his family and they said just go ahead and hunt it but i would feel bad so i am waiting.
The other is on my 1865, 1875, &1882 map. Its down a gravel road so there should be little trash. I have permission for this already. The last time i hunted 1 of these (last fall) i pulled out 4 large cents, 1842 half dime and a 1877 seated quarter.
Come on weekend!!!!
