I found this in a field, can't figure out if it was just 'OFF' or many two, one that said ON and this that said OFF. Or OFFICER. Cannot ID it at all, any ideas? Cheers guys!

My guess...

Hung from a string attached to a switch (factory setting early days of electrical power, or even possible a steam valve), in an emergency you pull THAT one...

Sensible guess, it was found near a railway line dating 1800's, is that the sort of thing that would have been used then?

I found an army officers cap badge in the same field and thought it was maybe some military but can't see it now, seems a bit of an odd shape

on the right track..it's from a gas ceiling lamp.

Here's an example...but if you google enough you may find an exact match.
