I've only been hunting for a little under a year. I have got shallow signals down pat. But I cant quite figure out whispers. What do they sound like? Do good signals ever break up or come in and out? I've been hunting old sites and not coming out with many coins. I have a tesoro vaquero, so i'm doing the deciphering of the signals. I was wondering if someone could give me a break down of types of signals (difference between breaking up vs whisper and how to tell the signals that arent crisp, clear no-brainers) Thanks.

I've never used a Vaquero, but a "whisper" on my MXT is a slight rise in the amplitude of the all-metal signal (threshold properly adjusted) as the coil passes over a target which has returned a signal that is too weak (either from depth or gain) for the MD to calculate an ID. Whispers are smooth as silk and the user has got to be listening for them.
