What Do You Make?

I make a lot of things. But I have a hobby machine shop. You will have to look at my website to see it all. www.huntfishsupply.com I make fish gigs, gator hunting equipment , pier gaffs, bridge gaffs, drag hooks, bangsticks. ( Don't want any business ) Some of the folks on tv series swamp people use a few of my things. I retired from doing alligators and wildlife control and just had to keep involved with what I use to do just for myself and a few others. I am slowly trying to back out of doing much of it and get motivated to go detecting. I have bought several detectors and haven't went hardly at all. I bought a new AT a couple years ago that hasn't been outside yet. Soon maybe. I hope I hope:yes:

I've made a few of these over the last 23 years:

I like making small stuff.

Cool, oscillating cylinder engine, I made one when I was in machine shop way back when, I scaled mine up quite a bit. I left it at the school, bolted to a bench and it would run on compressed air when they had open house. Sadly that school no longer offers that course. I went to work in machines shops for 20 years.

A COOL thread, and some really nice stuff.

I used to flies (a lot of flies), took a pic of a couple that I kept. one of the classic feather wings salmon flies took me quite a while to make.

Made a quite a bit of furniture, the pine table with the painted on names if for a camp.

And probably my biggest project was a couple of cedarstrip canoes.

Schweet! I may do some wood in the future if things go that way, it must be very satisfying to put out nice pieces like those Mate. :wow: It'd be weird to work with something that is not dimensionally stable....but you can sand & finish it, seems that would be pretty Zen. Chris

I collect daguerreotypes. Occasionally ambrotypes and maybe a tintype if it's really good. Typically the cases they used to come in are pretty beat up. I decided to make custom replacement cases for them. They run about 2 x 3 to 3 x 4 and 1/2 thick. I still have about 70 to do. Pretty tight work and I still haven't figured out the hinges yet (hence the blue tape). They look pretty much like this in walnut, cherry, maple, and some exotics usually in 1/8th inch stock.

I've been MDing on and off for a few years but this one of 2 other passions of mine. I compete at local and regional shows and have even taken awards at the National convention. I have had my work displayed in magazines and currently have a few pieces in museums.
