I just wanted to get a value for this 1894s half dollar. I told a poor farmer I'd split the value of any good finds. i haven't cleaned it other then a water rinse. Doesn't have any scratches. It looks like its scuffed down to the left of the date but when I rinsed it it was just where I rubbed off some of the patina and film with my thumb while looking for the date.when I first dug it. You can see that in the pic with dirt on it..
All the pics are with in two minutes of digging it.

Nice find. Congratulations. I found one of these about a month ago. Nice Coin.

Nice looking find. I don't know about collector value, but today's melt value is $7.19 per coinflation.com.

I'm no grading expert but I'd say maybe a 30$-50$ coin in dug condition. Just a ballpark guess honestly. Here's the figures from the 2015 red book. Awesome find btw that coin is very near the top of my bucket list!

It shows about F12-16 or so details. The issue is deciding how being in the ground affects the value. This is largely a matter of opinion...So you take a $70 coin and go from there. Depends on what someone is willing to give for it, but you can see from the selection on feebay that some with similar details but with bad scratches/cleaned are running between $50 and $60. Some people would rather see a dirty dug coin, and some would rather see a cleaned one.

I have a recommendation for you which will make both parties happy.
You should go buy a similar one and give it to him.
I did this with a guy who wanted to keep the silvers I found in his yard, this way I still ahve every silver I ever dug:D

If I would have made an agreement with a permission like you did nab than found that I would be sick, just sick!! Big congrats....I think.

I have done something similar to that in the past. I bought a lot of 50 1890s indian pennies. I give the kids who live at Any permission each one of those and one to the owners. I think it helps with getting permission when I knock on the door. Tell them what i do. show them a handful of 1800s coins and tell them there could be BETTER ones on their property. Then I give them each one to keep before I ask. Success rate has gone way up and it only costs about a couple bucks at most.
If I offered them two dollars to hunt their property or two 1800s coins. Its funny how one out weighs the other even though its the same.
