My friend has a gold Lewis and Clark Nickel he showed me today. I would like to know if the US Mint made them. How many were minted. And what is the value?

He also showed me a 1964 Great Britan Half penny. So how many were minted and how much is it worth?

This should help you a little bit .

It's a real nickel, and it's either:

plated with a minuscule amount of gold by a private company. You can find them being sold in sets along with the Louisiana Purchase nickel of 2004, in regular, silver plated and gold plated. for $10. That's a buck something per coin (asking price, not actual sold price), but the amount of gold on one is a few cents worth at the most.

Or just a plain nickel that has been exposed to some environmental agent that altered the color. This would be worth face value.

oop's Digger got the link posted before I posted the info so his answer for the nickel is the same as the info I posted . sorry about the double.
