Man, it was cold today. Upper 20's with wind. And the finds were eluding me. Went to four fields and came up with a lot of melted lead and pull tabs before I had a meeting at 2...
But I came out with a few keepers.
First field I've been to a few times. Digging the lower signals resulted in a lot of pop tops. I found the little drawer pull thingy and decided to take a drive and warm up.
Second field was new to me but corn.... trying to get in between the stalks, I found Elbert's token. A bit of googling suggests that there were machines which would make tokens like this for you. You could input what you wanted printed and it would make the token for you. 1930's through 1970's? Next year when that field is beans it should be better.
The workwear button is a new brand for me, so I'll take it! I like the different old buttons..
And the last field was just about a 20 minute hunt but I scored an Indianhead penny (which, after brushing back the soybean straw, was sticking halfway out of the ground).
Got too cold and decided to drive again. Stopped at my "marble field" and tried an eyeball hunt for 15 minutes, but no marbles today. Need to get a plow through that one and move some of them up....
Stay warm!
