Well I've found a handful of pieces of float copper and was wondering what would happen if I tumbled it so I threw a couple pieces in the tumbler. I checked it every 12 hours and wound up letting it run for 48 hours with just gravel to get the look I was going for. I know I could run it longer to get it smoother but I wanted to keep quite a bit of the green but give it some copper color. I just wish I could find a few bigger pieces to use as door stops or paper weights.

It is copper that was picked up from the Lake Superior region by glaciers and then dropped off by the glaciers as they went through the region. Here is a better explanation.

Those look great, I found a 27 0z chunk earlier this year , i like the way they turned out, michigan float is as pure as you can get , I drilled into my chunk a quarter inch . Solid pure copper, awsum finds!

Love finding Float Copper and love the cleanup picture you have here. Great job Jim. Think you will lick one that I dug. Jack
